About Us

The Save 16 Committee was formed in order to campaign for the protection and restoration of No. 16 Moore St. as a memorial to the people and events associated with the end of the 1916 rising.

So far, the Committee has succeeded in having the building listed as a protected structure and National Monument. Even more importantly, the Committee has through active engagement with State organisations, the Owner, and the local authorities, for it to be restored and extended, to consist of the 4 terrace houses that form the National Monument, according to best conservation practice and established as a 1916 commemorative centre.

The Save 16 Committee is confident that the protection and restoration of No. 16 Moore St, and the adjacent 3 houses. will be secured by one of the country’s leading conservation specialists, Shaffrey Associate Architects.

The Committee is involved in ongoing consultations and inspections of the building with Shaffrey Associates with a view to seeing the project through to a successful conclusion.

The plans for the restoration of No. 16 (including the Conservation Method Statement) are available for inspection at Dublin City Council Planning Department.
